From Mayumi's Woman Calendar Series, created in 1970.A small print from the Woman Calendar Series was the first silkscreen that I ever printed. I was fascinated by working with color, and I drew upon my background as a fabric major. The silkscreen technique was similar to working with color over fabric. Traditional Japanese kimono design and patterns from lacquer wares combined with my feeling for each season brought this series to life. It was almost like a pictorial diary of how I thought of the calendar, the activites and beauty of each season.
Hand-pulled Silkscreen, 22" x 28"
